Hello and Welcome to HaasRunz! My name is Kevin Haas, and I am the founder of HaasRunz.
Back in 2009 I ran my first race which was a mile downhill when I was 8 years old, and I have been running ever since. I had a lot of guidance from my parents about how to train and they are the reason for me starting on my journey. My very first race I can remember to this day. There were other kids my age, but I remember coming down the hill and finishing in dead last. Although I was a little embarrassed, I always wanted to work towards a goal of mine. I wanted to become the fastest kid at my school.
I started training and speed came naturally to me. I always loved competing in the 800m and mile in high school. My training then led me to commit to Penn State University for Track and Field. Over the years I have seen numerous training programs, saw what worked for kids and what didn’t work throughout. I learned terms such as Tempo, Threshold, Strides, and many more within the running community and implemented these things into my training at Penn State. Running has also given me connection to many great people around country that are trying to accomplish some of the same goals as me.
From my experience and knowledge gained over the years, I believe that I can take someone with goals and ambitions and helped guide them in the right direction. It took me a long time to figure out what worked best for me. I also wasn’t training right which looking back at it was a lot of wasted time when I could have been training smarter and not harder. A huge problem for me was that I didn’t have a coach that ran to give me guidance. Many High school coaches are teachers that didn’t run or go through a Track & Field program in college.
My goal is to help athletes of all levels figure out what training plan suits them best, as well as come up with goals for them whether it be to simply lose weight, get in shape, or even run a new pr. I’m here to share what I have learned over the years. Everyone’s body is different, so no one should be training the same.
